We are looking for a Security Officer to join our team at our Calcott Ten property based in Coventry working 52 hours per week. (Full Time – Monday – Thursday 19.00pm-08.00am)

You will be expected to

• work in a multitasking manner and therefore as well as developing the core skills central to your role

• gain experience across a range of other duties as directed by your line management

• report faults to the helpdesk or your line manager as you undertake your duties (our aim being to fix things before they are noticed)

• to report any student problem or any unusual behaviours to your line manager or the wardens


• Monitor and control access to property, assisting authorised visitors where necessary

• Ensure that no equipment or material is removed from property without authorisation

• Control and monitor vehicles on property, providing reasonable protection from damage or theft

• Conduct internal and external patrols of the property, checking for intruders, suspicious packages or damage

• Check for equipment and lighting malfunction, wasted energy (lights, appliances etc)

• Operate security equipment installed on the premises

• Provide assistance in the event of incident or emergency

• To be helpful to customers


• Clean, tidy and honest

• Proficient in oral and written communications

• Capable of gaining co-operation from people, diffuse aggression and provide clear reports.

• Physically fit with good customer care skills.

• Able to exercise initiative and prioritise duties accordingly.

• An understanding of the role of support services with experience of working in a similar environment in support of students would be an advantage.

• Hold a full United Kingdom Driving Licence.

• Able to work to a high standard against agreed timescales with limited supervision.

Technical Knowledge & Training

• Awareness of Health & Safety issues and the need for safe methods of working.

• Trained to BS7499 Code of Practice

• Trained to BS7984 – 2001 Key holding and response services

• Customer Service Training.

• First Aid trained.

No role profile can be entirely comprehensive, and you will be expected to be flexible and carry out other duties as required from time to time. This is on the understanding the duties will be within the individual’s capability and are consistent with the level and responsibilities of the role.

The property requires a high-quality facilities management service, delivered in a customer focused manner. In order to achieve this, you will be required to work as part of a team with the customer and client’s requirements at the forefront of all decisions.
